Bucket List +1

Planning for the End

Bucket lists give us life goals.
Advance Directives give us choice at life’s end.

Bucket List +1 is an educational program that provides resources to individuals, groups, and organizations to foster comfortable conversations around death and dying. Our speakers explain advance care planning and the importance of an advance directive. To make the process easy, we provide an information packet that helps you document your wishes for end-of-life care.

Death is inevitable. By communicating our wishes for end-of-life healthcare, we help our loved ones avoid the stress and worry of making decisions on our behalf.

Bucket List+1

A “bucket list” is commonly known as a set of life goals you want to accomplish within your life span. They are the things you want to do, places you want to visit, and people you want to see.

The “+1” component that many people neglect is a list that identifies what you want for yourself at end-of-life. You can document such wishes using an Advance Healthcare Directive. A directive takes a short time to complete and will inform your surviving loved ones and medical providers of your preferences when you pass. And it’s completely free.

A directive gives you choices at life’s end. Your loved ones will be confident about your wishes without the undue stressing of guessing what you might want in a medical crisis. By using HFO’s Bucket List +1 resources, you can have those decisions already made and saved in a bright orange folder to be executed should the need arise.

The Way You Want

When you write down your list and make your end-of-life wishes known to the people you care about, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’ll be taken care of the way you want. It’s a gift to those tasked with caring for you.

The Bucket List +1 program offers
four steps to advance care planning.

  • We inspire you to TALK with friends and family about your wishes and select a healthcare agent.

  • We help you LEARN advance healthcare planning terminology.
  • We provide you with the tools to PLAN for end-of-life decisions.
  • We help make your wishes official and NOTARIZE an advance healthcare directive.
